Blanka Skocilasova and Frantisek Klimenda (UJEP, Czech Republic) to UTTOP

As part of its European cooperation initiatives, UTTOP had the pleasure of welcoming Blanka Skocilasova and Frantisek Klimenda, both researchers in thermomechanics from Jan Evangelista PurkynÄ› University (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic, from May 20 to 24. The visit focused on scientific exchange, pedagogical observation, and mutual discovery of academic and research environments.

It began on Tuesday, May 20, with a welcome coffee, followed by attendance at a kinematics class taught by David YERLE, a lecturer in mechanical engineering. This immersive experience allowed the guests to observe local teaching methods.
Later that morning, they attended a lunch at the UTTOP Villa, which included a presentation of UTTOP’s institutional missions. The afternoon featured a guided campus tour, highlighting the university’s teaching facilities, technological platforms, and research spaces and also a presentation of UJEP, Czech Republic.

On Thursday morning, Blanka Skocilasova and Frantisek Klimenda visited the Tribology Laboratory, hosted by Karl DELBÉ, a renowned researcher in the field. Discussions centered on friction and wear phenomena, directly related to their work in thermomechanics.

The program continued on Friday morning with visits to the Robotics Laboratory with Mourad BENOUSSAAD, teacher-researcher and also Coordinator of the European Project Semester Program. Then they visited the Composite Materials Laboratory with Yannick BALCAEN, a mecanichal engineer of UTTOP.

This week of academic exchange laid the foundation for future scientific and educational collaborations between UTTOP and UJEP, and demonstrated the vital role of European cooperation in applied research and innovation.
