Visit of Professor Gökmen TAYFUR (Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey) to UTTOP

As part of its academic cooperation and international development strategy, UTTOP had the honor of welcoming Professor Gökmen TAYFUR from the Izmir Institute of Technology (Turkey) for a visit from May 12 to 16. This visit reflects a shared commitment to strengthening scientific collaborations and exploring new educational opportunities.

The week began on Monday, May 12, with a welcome coffee, followed by a presentation of UTTOP’s activities and research projects. Professor TAYFUR then toured the campus and its facilities, before joining a lunch with members of the International Relations Office to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
In the afternoon, the visit continued in Lourdes with a tour of the Seismic Risk Information Center, aligning with shared interests in resilience and risk management research.

On Thursday, May 15, Professor TAYFUR visited the LMDC laboratory (Materials and Durability of Constructions) located in the GCCD building at the Tarbes University Institute of Technology (IUT) in the company of teachers-researchers Hélène WELEMANE and Méryl LAGOUIN. This session provided an opportunity to showcase current research on sustainable construction materials and to discuss about projects in civil engineering science.

The visit concluded on Friday, May 16, with a meeting with researcher Karl DELBÉ, an expert in tribology, to exchange insights on recent developments and potential collaborative ventures in this key field that bridges mechanical engineering and materials science.

This visit represents an important milestone in building long-term partnerships between UTTOP and international research institutions. It highlights UTTOP’s commitment to openness, innovation, and scientific exchange in response to today’s global challenges.
